เมื่อวันที่ 16 และ 18 มีนาคม 2569 ที่ผ่านมา สถาบันสันติศึกษา มหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์ ให้การต้อนรับ ฯพณฯ Anna Hammagren เอกอัครราชทูตสวีเดนประจำประเทศไทยและคณะ ในโอกาสเยือนมหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์และสถาบันฯเพื่อหารือประเด็นกระบวนการสันติภาพจังหวัดชายแดนภาคใต้ และความร่วมมือทางวิชาการด้านสันติศึกษา ณ ห้องประชุมสันติธรรม สถาบันสันติศึกษา วิทยาเขตหาดใหญ่ และห้องประชุมสถานวิจัยความขัดแย้งและความหลากหลายทางวัฒนธรรมภาคใต้ สถาบันสันติศึกษา วิทยาเขตปัตตานี
การเยือนครั้งนี้ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ ดร.กุสุมา กูใหญ่ ผู้อำนวยการสถาบันสันติศึกษา พร้อมด้วยผู้บริหารและคณาจารย์ประจำสถาบันฯ ได้นำเสนอการดำเนินงานของสถาบันฯ และความความก้าวหน้าอย่างต่อเนื่องของความร่วมมือด้านวิจัยระหว่างสถาบันสันติศึกษากับ Department of Peace and Conflict Research มหาวิทยาลัยอุปซาลา ประเทศสวีเดน ซึ่งเป็นสถาบันชั้นนำระดับโลกด้านการวิจัยความขัดแย้งและสันติภาพ
ความร่วมมือดังกล่าวครอบคลุมทั้งด้านการวิจัย การพัฒนาหลักสูตร และการบริการวิชาการ อาทิ การแลกเปลี่ยนนักวิชาการ การพัฒนาฐานข้อมูลความรุนแรงและความขัดแย้ง การวิเคราะห์สถานการณ์ความขัดแย้งเชิงประจักษ์ ตลอดจนการจัดกิจกรรมฝึกอบรมและเวทีวิชาการร่วมกัน
ในโอกาสนี้ ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ ดร.ศรีสมภพ จิตร์ภิรมย์ศรี และผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ ดร.รุ่งรวี เฉลิมศรีภิญโญ อาจารย์ประจำสถาบันได้นำเสนอการวิเคราะห์สถานการณ์กระบวนการสันติภาพในจังหวัดชายแดนภาคใต้รวมถึงข้อมูลสถิติเหตุการณ์ในพื้นที่จังหวัดชายแดนภาคใต้ แนวทางการสร้างสันติภาพ และการอยู่ร่วมกันท่ามกลางความหลากหลายทางวัฒนธรรม โดยเอกอัครราชทูตได้ให้ความสนใจและร่วมแลกเปลี่ยนประสบการณ์การสร้างสันติภาพและการพัฒนาพื้นที่
สถาบันสันติศึกษารู้สึกเป็นเกียรติอย่างยิ่งที่ได้ต้อนรับการเยือนในครั้งนี้ และหวังเป็นอย่างยิ่งว่าจะได้สานต่อความร่วมมือทางวิชาการระหว่างประเทศไทยและสวีเดนให้เข้มแข็งยิ่งขึ้นในอนาคต

IPS Welcomes the Ambassador of Sweden to Thailand for Dialogue on Academic Cooperation for Peacebuilding in Thailand’s Deep South
On 16 and 18 March 2026, the Institute for Peace Studies (IPS), Prince of Songkla University, had the honor of welcoming H.E. Anna Hammagren, Ambassador of Sweden to Thailand, and her delegation. The visit aimed to exchange knowledge and experiences on the peace process in Thailand’s southernmost provinces, as well as to explore academic cooperation in peace studies.
The meetings were held at the IPS Hat Yai Campus and the Center for Conflict Studies and Cultural Diversity (CSCD), Pattani Campus. On this occasion, Asst. Prof. Dr. Kusuma Kooyai, Director of IPS, together with the faculty members, presented the institute’s work and highlighted the continued progress of research collaboration with the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University, one of the world’s leading institutions in peace and conflict research. This collaboration spans research and academic services, including the development of conflict and violence databases, empirical conflict analysis, as well as joint training programs and academic forums.
During the visit, Asst. Prof. Dr. Srisompob Jitpiromsri and Asst. Prof. Dr. Rungrawee Chalermsripinyorat presented analyses of the peace process in Thailand’s southernmost provinces, including statistical data on violent incidents, approaches to peacebuilding, and coexistence in a multicultural society. The Ambassador expressed strong interest and actively engaged in discussions, sharing perspectives on peacebuilding and development.
IPS is deeply honored to have hosted this visit and looks forward to further strengthening academic cooperation between Thailand and Sweden in advancing peace and sustainable development.
